Caritas

Charity and Service among the Syro-Malabar Faithful in Europe

Caritas is the charitable ministry of the Church, expressing Christian love through concrete acts of mercy, solidarity, and service.

Within the Apostolic Visitation for the Syro-Malabar faithful in Europe, Caritas seeks to respond to human needs with compassion, inspired by the Gospel and guided by the Church’s social teaching.

European Context

Syro-Malabar communities in Europe live in diverse social and economic situations. Caritas ministry adapts to local legal and social frameworks, works in communion with local dioceses and Caritas structures where required, and emphasizes responsible and coordinated charity.

Organization and Guidance

Caritas activities function under the guidance of the Apostolic Visitator, with the involvement of priests, religious, and lay volunteers, and in coordination with parish or mass-centre leadership. All charitable actions respect Church norms and local regulations.

Call to Charity

All Syro-Malabar faithful in Europe are invited to practice charity as an expression of faith, support Caritas initiatives through prayer, service, and generosity, and witness Christian love through concrete acts.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
