St. Thomas the Apostle

“My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28)
St. Thomas is one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of John presents him as a disciple with a sincere heart—one who asked honest questions and sought the truth with courage.
His journey of faith reaches its summit after the Resurrection, when he encounters the risen Lord and proclaims: “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28). This confession stands at the center of Christian faith and makes St. Thomas a powerful witness of the divinity of Christ.
Ancient Christian tradition also honors St. Thomas as the Apostle of India. The St. Thomas Christian heritage in India—and the Syro-Malabar tradition—treasures his apostolic mission as a foundational grace that continues to inspire faith, unity, and evangelization.
A Faith that Seeks becomes a Faith that Proclaims
St. Thomas teaches the Church to bring every question to Christ—because honest seeking leads to deeper faith and stronger witness.
In Scripture, St. Thomas shows courage (“Let us also go, that we may die with him” — John 11:16) and sincerity (“Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” — John 14:5).
For the faithful today—especially in migrant communities—St. Thomas inspires unity, perseverance, and a missionary heart: faith that is personal becomes faith that serves, builds, and proclaims.
